If you are adding an addition or building a new house, you need to consider a radiant floor heating system.
I know that the cold weather is almost gone, but I wanted to say a bit about a type of heating source that I really recommend. The best heating system a house can have is the one you don’t realize is there. A radiant floor heating system is a highly efficient way to heat a house, increasing comfort, as it reduces energy costs.
Radiant floor heating is supplied by hot-water tubes or electric wires buried underneath the floor. As the invisible waves of heat rise from the floor, they warm up any objects they strike. Those objects then radiate out that captured heat to the room. This will keep your feet toasty warm and it saves energy while it provides the ultimate in comfort.
In my opinion, the best type of radiant floor heating system is a hydronic (hot water) radiant system. This system works by hot water being pumped from a boiler through a loop of flexible tubing embedded in the floor. Another benefit of this type of system is that it can easily be zoned for maximum comfort and efficiency. Therefore, you will have a warm living space without uncomfortable hot or cold air pockets that may be caused by a forced-air system.
